Zabiri, 21, arrives having managed just six substitute appearances totalling 42 minutes without a goal for Rennes since his move from Portuguese side Famalicão in February, when the Ligue 1 club paid around €10 million for him.
He remains under contract in France until 2029, but the loan is designed to give him the regular first-team football he has lacked since arriving in Europe.
"Hello, Racing fans, I can't wait to see you at the stadium. It's going to be a great year," Zabiri said in his first comments as a Racing player, posted on the club's social media.
Born in Marrakech on February 23, 2005, the 1.82m forward came through the Mohammed VI Football Academy before starting his professional career at Union Touarga in Morocco, then moving to Famalicão in Portugal's top flight, where he scored seven goals for the first team and five more with the reserves. He has made 37 official appearances across the top divisions of Morocco, Portugal and France to date.
Zabiri made his senior Morocco debut against Burundi on May 26 this year and already has an extensive record with the country's youth sides. He was part of the squad that won the Under-20 World Cup in Chile in 2025, scoring five goals across the tournament including two in the final win over Argentina, and was named the competition's second-best player. He has 30 appearances for Morocco's Under-20 side and two more at Under-23 level.
A left-footer, Zabiri is regarded as a quick, direct forward capable of playing across the front line, and Racing are hoping the move will let him convert his Under-20 form into senior output, with the club looking for a new attacking spearhead following the departure of Gustavo Puertas.
He is expected to link up in attack with Racing playmaker Sergio Canales as the Cantabrian side prepare for their first top-flight campaign in 14 years, giving José Alberto López's squad fresh firepower for the step up from the Segunda División.
