Liverpool forward Will Wright has earned his first England youth call-up after scoring 13 goals in 12 appearances for the Reds this season.

The 18-year-old has been rewarded for an outstanding start to the campaign with selection for England Under-19s, who will contest three European Championship qualifiers during the November international window.

Wright is named in the squad for matches against Slovenia on November 11, Belarus on November 14 and Austria on November 17. His call-up comes after an impressive run at Liverpool, where he has become a key figure for the Under-19s and captains the side in the UEFA Youth League.

The striker took his youth-level tally for the 2026-27 season to 13 with a hat-trick in Wednesday's 5-3 victory over Fenerbahçe. Liverpool made an unbeaten start to their Youth League campaign, collecting eight points from their first four matches.

Wright opened the scoring in the third minute and added a second in the 14th minute as Liverpool established an early advantage. The visitors led 2-0 and later 4-1, but had to withstand a response from the Turkish side before Wright completed his hat-trick in the second half.

The forward, who joined Liverpool from Salford City in August 2025, has been pleased with his progress and believes his physical approach is an important part of his game.

“People tend to call me a retro No.9 who likes to bustle himself about. Those are my strengths,” he told Liverpool's official website.

“From experience I know the contact, I know the right positions to be in. I just need to keep being clinical.

“I’m super-happy with the way the season is going and hopefully I can carry on this way.”

Despite the convincing scoreline against Fenerbahçe, Wright was keen to stress that Liverpool still have areas to improve. He felt the team allowed their opponents back into the contest after making a strong start.

“It was a strong performance from the lads. We’ve still got to keep working,” he said.

“We’ve got room to improve, sometimes we were complacent – we could have avoided those goals we conceded and we made the game harder for ourselves.

“But super-happy with it. We’ve just got to keep pushing.”

Wright also identified the danger of relaxing after taking an early lead, highlighting the importance of maintaining intensity throughout a match.

“Sometimes when you get an early lead, you do tend to relax. But that’s the message that we have to keep saying to each other throughout the team: that we can’t become relaxed in those games, we’ve got to be ruthless.”

He added that the demand for consistency applies across the pitch, not just to the forwards.

“It’s one of Rob’s biggest things, being ruthless throughout the game, not only at the top of the pitch but at the back as well. I think that’s just what we’ve got to keep telling each other, keep pushing each other and hopefully the results keep coming as they are.”

Wright's England selection is accompanied by further representation for Liverpool in the youth squads. Erik Farkas has been named in the Under-18s group for friendlies against the Netherlands, Sweden and Switzerland, while Josh Abe is part of Barry Lewtas' Under-17s squad for matches against Montenegro, Poland and Ukraine.

For Wright, the call-up marks another step forward after a prolific start to the season. His immediate focus will be carrying that form into international football before returning to Liverpool's youth campaign.
