VfB Stuttgart want to extend Yanik Spalt's contract after the 19-year-old midfielder impressed in his recent first-team appearances, particularly against Galatasaray.

The teenager is currently tied to the club until 2028, but Stuttgart are keen to open discussions over an improved agreement in the coming weeks. According to Sky, the proposed deal would include a significant salary increase as well as an extension to his existing contract.

Spalt has mainly featured for Stuttgart's second team in the third division, but he has made three appearances for the senior side this season. His latest outing came in the 2-0 Champions League defeat away to Galatasaray, where he played 72 minutes and impressed with his composure and work on the ball.

That performance has strengthened the club's belief that he can develop into an important first-team option. Stuttgart are understood to rate the Austrian midfielder highly and want to give him a clearer pathway into the senior squad rather than allow his contract situation to drift.

The club's planning has already reflected that confidence. Reports in Germany indicate VfB Stuttgart were prepared to let Chema Andrés leave for Brighton because they believe Spalt can take on a greater role in midfield. The proposed extension would therefore be a statement of trust in the teenager as well as a move to protect an emerging asset.

There is no immediate contractual pressure, with his current agreement running for another two years. However, Stuttgart are keen to act before his value and profile rise further, particularly after his display in Istanbul gave him a more prominent platform.

For Spalt, the new terms would recognise his progress from the second team to involvement in the first-team picture. The salary increase would also reflect the club's intention to reward his development and secure his services beyond 2028.

Sky reports that Stuttgart want the midfielder to sign as soon as possible, although negotiations still need to take place. The club's intention is clear: they see Spalt as part of their plans and want to make sure his future is settled.
