Kingsley Ehizibue has completed his move to Genoa on a free transfer, ending his four-year stay at Udinese to become the club's latest addition on the right flank.

The Dutch-Nigerian right-back's arrival carries a personal footnote: Genoa had tried to sign him once before, only for Ehizibue to turn the club down at the time.

He addressed that history directly in his first comments after putting pen to paper.

"As a believer, this is the best way to ask for forgiveness after, years ago, I backed out of the offer I received," he said.

"Things change, and my outlook has changed. I want to get involved, and I feel joy in knowing I'll be defending Genoa's colours. I thank the club."

Ehizibue, 31, joins on a free transfer after his contract at Udinese expired, closing out a four-year spell in Friuli that began in 2022. He made 32 appearances and scored twice for Udinese in Serie A last season alone, logging more than 1,900 minutes, having arrived from German club 1. FC Köln.

He passed his medical at CDS – La Tua Casa della Salute before signing a multi-year contract, with his first training sessions alongside his new teammates due in the coming days.

Genoa's chief of football, Diego Lopez, framed the signing as the final piece of the club's plans on the flanks.

"Ehizibue brings pace, a wide range of running and knowledge of the league — always a point in our favour," Lopez said. "With Kingsley we've completed our squad of wide players. We're counting on his athletic qualities and his ability to adapt so that he's ready, in a short space of time, to make his contribution."

Born in Munich and raised in the Netherlands, Ehizibue began his senior career at PEC Zwolle before spells in the Bundesliga and Eredivisie, and arrives at Genoa with experience across three of Europe's top leagues.

The club confirmed the move in an official statement: "Genoa CFC announces it has completed the registration of wide player Kingsley Ehizibue, a new addition to the squad for the 2026/27 season."

Across his time at Udinese, Ehizibue made 119 appearances in all competitions, scoring four goals and adding two assists, having joined the Bianconeri from Köln for a fee of around €1.5 million in 2022. He has long been eligible to represent Nigeria through his parents, having been called up by the national team as a teenager, though a dual-nationality complication tied to his family's arrival in the Netherlands as refugees has meant he has never earned a senior cap for either country.

With Genoa, he now begins a new chapter in Serie A after four seasons on the other side of the division.
