Spalletti commits to Juventus until 2028 after dressing room announcement

Luciano Spalletti has signed a two-year contract extension at Juventus, tying the 67-year-old coach to the club until June 2028 โ€” and he told the players himself before the news went public.

After Friday morning's training session at the Continassa, Spalletti addressed the squad directly to announce the renewal. Juventus made the moment official by releasing the video of his speech to the dressing room.

He began by recounting how the original short-term deal was framed as a trial for both sides.

"When I arrived seven months ago, they offered me this contract. It was a way of saying: let's spend some time together, get to know each other, and then we'll be free to decide. I accepted without hesitation because I wanted to understand what Juventus was like from the inside."

He was equally clear about what he found when he arrived.

"I wanted to understand what you were like, because I had been impressed watching you from the outside and I liked the idea of entering your dressing room and coaching you. It was easy to imagine the greatness of Juventus and its vision for the future โ€” what was harder was finding such a good group, such a united group of players, strong and eager to be together as if you were all inside the same shirt."

He then broke the news.

"Every time I see you, I see Juventus. That is why I felt it was important to tell you this first. We have decided to extend this contract for another two years. I want to tell you before anyone else. Naturally, we have challenges ahead of us, but I am convinced that with you they will become great challenges โ€” because I will face them with your willingness and your strength."

He closed with a reminder of what this club represents.

"There is the responsibility of the greatness of the club. We must make those millions of fans proud โ€” fans who belong to one of the most beautiful and greatest clubs in the world. Thank you for your willingness. And beyond the end."

Spalletti replaced Igor Tudor at the end of October on an initial deal to the end of the season. Since his arrival, Juventus have won 17 of 31 games and are currently fifth in Serie A, in the race for a Champions League place. Juventus CEO Damien Comolli said the club were "delighted" with the extension, adding that Spalletti's "values embody our identity."

He is set to earn between โ‚ฌ5 million and โ‚ฌ6 million per season.
