Speaking to TMW, the Indonesian international also touched on the departure of his former central-defensive partner Tarik Muharemović, who completed a move to Leeds this summer after months of speculation linking him with several Italian clubs.
"I didn't end up going to the national team in the end last year, it's going well now, we're working with Berardi and with someone else and I hope to be back with the squad as soon as possible," Idzes said, referencing his club commitments alongside international duty.
On Muharemović's exit, he was warm in his assessment of the Bosnian centre-back.
"Muharemović? I'm happy for him, he's very strong and he's a good person off the pitch too. I played a lot of matches last year and I hope to keep playing a lot of matches next year as well."
Idzes also had a message for the club's supporters, echoing a theme Aquilani had raised earlier in the presentation about Sassuolo's size relative to Serie A's bigger clubs.
"The fans? This is a small city, but the people who come to the stadium do it with real passion, and we play for all of them."
The Dutch-born defender, who holds Indonesian citizenship and captains the national side, joined Sassuolo from Venezia in August 2025 for around €8m and quickly established himself as a first-choice starter, making 34 Serie A appearances last season. He was also named Indonesia's player of the year at the country's football association awards in the spring, recognition for a campaign in which he helped his country push for a first-ever World Cup qualification.
Muharemović's move to Leeds United, completed on 17 July in a deal reported at around €40m, closes the book on a partnership that had formed the backbone of Sassuolo's defence. Juventus, who sold Muharemović to Sassuolo permanently for around €3m last year after an initial loan, are reported to be entitled to roughly half of the fee under a sell-on clause retained in that deal.
Idzes, for his part, remains a first-choice starter under Aquilani heading into the new campaign, having established himself as one of the more reliable defensive presences in Sassuolo's side over the past year.
