The Wales youth international, who is also attracting interest from Fulham, has been on Rovers' books since he was seven and made history in November 2023 when he came off the bench against Whitby Town in the FA Cup, becoming the club's youngest-ever player in the competition and the second-youngest to appear for the first team.
Since then he has gained senior experience through loan spells at Yate Town, Taunton Town and, most recently, National League South side Weston-super-Mare, where he scored three times in 21 appearances last season. Should his trial go well, Everton are expected to complete a deal for a six-figure fee.
Dewsbury would follow a familiar pathway into Everton's academy set-up, joining recent additions such as Braiden Graham and Ceiran Loney - signed from Linfield and Partick respectively - as well as former Arsenal youth player Omari Benjamin in the club's Under-21 ranks, reports the Liverpool Echo. Everton have also moved this summer to bring in 16-year-old forward Kai Hutchison from Dundee United.
Elsewhere at Under-21 level, forward George Morgan has returned to French club AS Cannes on a season-long loan after impressing during the second half of last season. The 19-year-old, a Wales youth international, scored twice in 12 appearances for Cannes as they won promotion to Ligue 3, having previously scored seven goals in 13 games for Everton's Under-18s.
Morgan, who signed a new contract with the Toffees in January running until June 2028, took part in the Under-21s' pre-season training camp in Scotland and set up a goal in Everton's opening friendly against Oldham Athletic before returning to Cannes.
Everton's Under-21s have also completed the signing of goalkeeper Zach Lee on a one-year deal until June 2027, following a trial period towards the end of last season. The 19-year-old, who has previously featured for Barrow, Wigan Athletic and, most recently, Kendal Town, described putting pen to paper as the culmination of years of hard work.
"I've not really got the words for it," Lee said. "It's an unbelievable feeling and I'm absolutely over the moon to get it done. It's a proud moment for my whole family, especially my dad. We've all put a lot of sacrifices and work in."
Lee has been training with the Under-21s at their pre-season camp in St Andrews alongside Morgan, and says he has settled in quickly. "It's been really good at Everton," he added. "It's a great group with many great people. We've got some top coaches to work with, and the lads who I train with all get on. It's just been brilliant and the keepers' union is like a family."
