In barely a week since the period for new sign-ups began, the Catalan club has added 1,528 new season ticket holders, a response the club has described as spectacular given the timing.
The comparison with last year's figures makes the scale of the growth clear. At this point last summer, Espanyol had 22,891 season ticket holders. The club has now reached 28,863, an increase of 5,972 compared with the same date twelve months ago.
The growth in membership numbers, covering supporters who are club members but do not hold a stadium seat, has been similarly striking. The club has now reached 33,218 members in total, up 6,672 on the equivalent point last summer, reflecting a similarly strong response from supporters keen to stay connected to Manolo Gonzalez's project.
The response from fans has been so strong that only 1,500 places remain available for new season tickets in the stadium's lower-priced areas, with several other sections already completely sold out.
While Gonzalez's squad continues its pre-season preparations, with Espanyol playing their second friendly of the summer today, the club's off-field growth shows no signs of slowing, with the numbers so far this summer already comfortably surpassing anything achieved at the same stage in recent years.
The club's institutional changes over the past year appear to have played a significant role in reigniting supporter engagement, with fans responding in numbers even before the squad itself has been fully assembled for the new campaign.
Season ticket sales of this scale this early in the summer point to genuine optimism among the Espanyol faithful, who are clearly eager to be part of a project they hope can deliver a more positive season than recent campaigns have provided. With several sections of the stadium already close to capacity, the club may yet need to manage demand carefully as the remaining availability continues to shrink in the coming weeks.
