According to Sky Sports, the 25-year-old is close to putting pen to paper on fresh terms, having informed the club as recently as the start of the year that he wanted to leave.
His change of heart has come under new manager Roberto De Zerbi, whose appointment is understood to have played a significant role in persuading him to commit his future to Spurs.
His existing contract already runs to 2029, and Tottenham have made clear any interested club would need to meet a €115m valuation to prise him away, but a new deal would further strengthen the club's hand and reward one of the Premier League's most highly rated defenders with substantially improved terms – reports in England suggest his wage could rise from around £90,000 a week towards £200,000.
The extension would also follow a similar renewal for full-back Pedro Porro earlier in the summer, as Spurs look to fend off interest from elsewhere in a defence further strengthened by the arrivals of Jan Paul van Hecke and Marcos Senesi.
Real Madrid and Liverpool have both been credited with interest in Van de Ven in the past, but Tottenham's determination to build around De Zerbi appears to have convinced the Netherlands international that his long-term future lies in north London.
Van de Ven joined Tottenham from Wolfsburg in 2023 in a deal that could rise to around £43m with add-ons, and has since established himself as one of the first names on the team sheet, prized for his recovery pace and composure in possession.
His willingness to commit long-term will be seen as a significant boost for De Zerbi as he looks to build a settled defensive unit heading into his first full season in charge, following a difficult period in which the club's form dipped and speculation over several key players intensified.
