Former Tottenham defender Stephen Carr admits he can't see his old club attracting the top players of past times.

Carr, who joined Spurs with the likes of Paul Gascoigne, Gary Lineker and Chris Waddle all starring under then manager Terry Venables, believes Tottenham now cannot compete for such huge names due to finances.

The Irishman insists the money involved needing to go to both wages and transfer fees means Tottenham need to find other ways to attract top talent - particularly with no Champions League football to offer as an attraction.
