The Turkish club have had offers of £15million and £20million turned down by Spurs, according to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, with an improved proposal expected to follow soon. Trabzonspor have made the 29-year-old Brazilian their priority target as the Turkish transfer window remains open until Friday, well beyond the deadline that closed the Premier League market on Tuesday.
The move follows a collapsed attempt to send Richarlison to Everton as part of a double deal involving Iliman Ndiaye, which fell through after personal terms could not be agreed and Ndiaye's move to Manchester City took precedence instead.
Head coach Roberto De Zerbi had made clear that Richarlison was among a group of players who had asked to leave Tottenham over the summer, alongside Pape Matar Sarr and Kevin Danso, with the Brazilian having fallen further down the pecking order following the arrivals of Omar Marmoush, Savio and Mykhaylo Mudryk.
Richarlison addressed the speculation directly in a statement posted to social media, saying any move away from Tottenham would need to work for the club as much as for him.
"I've always made it clear, at every opportunity, that any move of mine to another place would also have to be good for the club," he wrote.
"If it wasn't, I would never accept it. Just like I didn't accept it when everything here was falling apart and they needed me. I stayed and gave my life."
Should the move go through, Richarlison would link up with former Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah at Trabzonspor, who have been aggressive in the market as they push for a genuine title challenge.
Tottenham signed the Brazilian from Everton for around £60million in 2022, and any sale now, even at a reduced fee, would represent a significant financial loss on that initial outlay.
The financial package on offer appears to be the decisive factor in Richarlison's willingness to consider the move, with reports suggesting his wages at Trabzonspor would rise to roughly three times the approximately £90,000 a week he currently earns in north London.
With personal terms now understood to be in place, the remaining obstacle is an agreement between the two clubs, with Trabzonspor expected to return with a third offer in an attempt to meet Tottenham's valuation before their own domestic window shuts.
