Betis reject PSG interest in Abde as transfer rumours gather pace

Real Betis have rejected reports suggesting Paris Saint-Germain are considering a move for Ez Abde, with sporting director Manu Fajardo insisting claims of interest from the French club are false.

The Morocco international has attracted renewed attention following a series of impressive performances, most recently in Real Betis' 2-1 victory over Málaga. Abde was again one of the hosts' most dangerous attacking players, troubling the opposition defence with his pace and direct running down the left.

He also struck the crossbar with a free-kick and repeatedly caused problems for the Málaga defenders, adding to the growing speculation surrounding his future.

Reports in the Middle East have suggested PSG are considering Abde as a possible replacement for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who has suffered a serious knee injury. The Georgian is expected to miss the remainder of the campaign after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament.

However, Betis have moved quickly to dismiss the suggestion that negotiations or serious interest are developing.

Speaking to WinWin, Fajardo said: "It is not true, anything that has been said in recent weeks about Paris Saint-Germain's interest in signing Abde. They are just lies, nothing more."

Abde remains under contract at the Benito Villamarín until June 2029, with a reported release clause of €60 million. That figure would make any potential deal a significant investment for PSG or another interested club.

Barcelona would also stand to benefit from a future transfer. The Catalan club retained a sell-on percentage when Abde joined Betis in 2023, having received €7.5m for their share of the player's rights.

The winger's recent form has strengthened his position in Manuel Pellegrini's side after a disrupted start to the season. Abde missed four competitive matches and was also delayed in fully joining Betis' pre-season preparations after suffering an injury while on international duty with Morocco.

He has since made an increasingly important contribution, scoring three goals and providing an assist in his first 10 appearances across all competitions, while his ability to beat defenders has made him one of Betis' most effective attacking outlets.

His performance against Málaga was another reminder of the qualities that have made him valuable to the Andalusian club. But despite the speculation surrounding PSG and the possibility of a January move, Betis' public position is clear: they are not aware of any genuine approach from the French champions.
