Silva's contract expires at the end of June. Fulham have had a three-year offer on the table since October, understood to be worth enough to place him among the top six highest-paid managers in the Premier League, but have received no formal response. He spoke after Sunday's 1-1 draw at relegated Wolverhampton Wanderers, a result that all but ended Fulham's already slim hopes of European qualification.
"I have not decided. I understand the fans want to know the future of the club. Myself and the club cannot communicate something when the decision is not made. I said I'm going to meet with the board, we are going to analyse, we are going to say some important things which will be crucial to the club's future in the way I want the club to move."
Silva pointed to the summer as a period of wider significance for the club, with or without him.
"This summer is going to be one of the most important for the club's future. There are many things to analyse and you need to be calm in this moment to address many, many things."
The situation is complicated by a number of overlapping factors. Silva was among the candidates considered by Chelsea for their managerial vacancy before Xabi Alonso was appointed on Sunday. He has previously indicated an interest in returning to Portugal at some point in his career, and if José Mourinho leaves Benfica for Real Madrid, the Lisbon club's position could become available. Fulham's failure to challenge for European football this season, finishing 13th with one game remaining after a strong push in the middle of the season faded, has created internal questions about the ceiling of the club's current ambitions.
Winger Harry Wilson, who has contributed 10 Premier League goals and is Fulham's most influential creative player, is also out of contract this summer, adding further uncertainty to the squad's composition regardless of the managerial outcome.
