According to L'Équipe, Nice are closing in on their most lucrative sale of the summer, with a deal for forward Mohamed-Ali Cho close to being finalised at around €20m (£17.3m). It would comfortably become the biggest transfer in Hull's history, surpassing the roughly €15m the club paid for Ryan Mason during the 2015-16 season.
Cho, 22, joined Nice from Real Sociedad for around €10m in January 2024 and has scored 12 goals in 92 appearances since, with 10 goal contributions coming last season alone.
Nice, who need to make around €70m in savings this summer, have already sold Charles Vanhoutte, Jérémie Boga, Gabin Bernardeau and Mattia Viti, with Cho set to become their fifth departure of the window. The forward began his career in the youth academies of Paris Saint-Germain, Everton and Angers before breaking through in French football.
Hull City have been relatively restrained in the transfer market so far this summer, spending just €3.5m, but are prepared to make a club-record outlay to bring Cho to the MKM Stadium as Sergej Jakirović's side prepare for life back in the Premier League.
The Tigers have also confirmed two academy players heading out on loan. Versatile midfielder Nathan Tinsdale, who spent a decade in Bradford City's academy before signing his first professional contract with Hull in 2023, has joined League Two side Crawley Town for the season.
The 20-year-old captained Hull's under-21 side and had his one-year contract option triggered by the club this summer; he made his senior bow as a substitute on the opening day of last season at Coventry City, before starting the EFL Cup tie at Wrexham. Crawley boss Colin Kazim-Richards, whose side avoided relegation from the EFL by finishing 22nd last term, begin the new campaign away at York City in Monday's EFL Cup qualifier, with Tinsdale having already featured in pre-season friendlies against Konyaspor and Çaykur Rizespor.
A product of Charlton Athletic's academy, Mason Burstow scored with his first touch in professional football after breaking into the first team in 2021, before Chelsea signed him for a seven-figure fee in February 2022. Further loan spells at Charlton and Sunderland preceded a permanent switch to Hull in August 2024 on a four-year deal, where the striker has scored twice in 32 appearances.
Burstow has now joined League One side Sheffield Wednesday on a season-long loan after a breakout campaign at Bolton Wanderers, where he scored 12 goals and provided five assists last season as the Trotters won promotion via the play-offs. Sheffield Wednesday sporting director Simon Wilson said the 22-year-old's form at Bolton showed he was "on an upward trajectory", and Henrik Pedersen's side face his former loan club in the first round of the EFL Cup on 8 August.
