LA Galaxy confirmed the signing of the 34-year-old midfielder on a free transfer through June 2028, with an option for a further season, ending his two-year stay in Italy under former Barcelona teammate Cesc Fàbregas.
Roberto managed just 37 appearances across two seasons at Como, contributing one goal and one assist, having played a secondary role behind the club's more established options and never quite recapturing the influence he had during an 18-year career at Barcelona, where he made more than 370 appearances and won 25 trophies, including seven La Liga titles and two Champions League triumphs.
He remains best remembered in Catalonia for scoring the decisive sixth goal in Barcelona's remarkable 6-1 Champions League comeback against PSG in March 2017. Galaxy general manager Will Kuntz welcomed the signing, saying Roberto "brings a combination of leadership, technical quality, tactical intelligence, and championship experience that few players have."
Como's business hasn't stopped there. According to L'Unione Sarda, the Lombardy club is exploring a move for Cagliari striker Sebastiano Esposito, whose future in Sardinia looks increasingly uncertain following a breakdown in relations with the club amid recent public disagreements.
Cagliari value Esposito at around €20m, though a deal could potentially be structured closer to €15m and include Ignace Van der Brempt, a full-back currently surplus to requirements at Como and a player Cagliari have been monitoring for several weeks as they look to strengthen their own defence following the arrival of Yan Couto.
Como's interest puts the Lombardy club in direct competition with Atalanta, who had also been credited with an interest in the 23-year-old forward earlier in the window. Talks between the two clubs remain at an early stage, but the interlocking nature of the two situations could yet accelerate a resolution for both parties in the coming weeks.
