Yan Diomande was one of the standout performers as Ivory Coast began their World Cup campaign with a 1-0 win over Ecuador, a display that has only intensified speculation over his future at RB Leipzig.

The 19-year-old winger created five chances during the match, with Manchester United's Amad Diallo scoring a late winner to secure the points for the Ivorians.

According to ESPN, only two Ivory Coast players have created more chances in a single World Cup match in the nation's history.

Diomande has been heavily linked with both Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain ahead of the summer transfer window, following a breakout season in the Bundesliga that saw him register 22 goal involvements, with 13 goals and nine assists.

Ivory Coast head coach Emerse Fae addressed the speculation after the match, but made clear that any decision on Diomande's future would wait until after the World Cup.

"When we were in France, during the preparation, journalists told me he was about to sign with PSG," Fae said.

"Here in the USA, they tell me he's about to sign with Liverpool. I honestly don't know what's going on, but right now he wants to focus on the World Cup, and afterwards he can think about the rest of his career."

RB Leipzig are reportedly demanding around €100 million for Diomande, with some reports suggesting the figure could rise as high as €130 million given his age and performance level.

Diomande joined RB Leipzig from Leganes for around €20 million last summer, despite making just ten appearances in La Liga before the move.

According to The Athletic, Liverpool have already made contact with RB Leipzig, with the Reds said to hold the strongest position among interested parties.

Liverpool's pursuit comes as the club looks to address its options on the wing following Mohamed Salah's departure at the end of last season.

Reports suggest Liverpool have already submitted an official bid for the winger, with transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano describing Diomande as one of the most exciting young talents on the market.

Paris Saint-Germain, the reigning Champions League winners, remain credited with interest as well, with Diomande himself having previously spoken of his admiration for the French club.

RB Leipzig are understood to be reluctant to sell this summer, preferring to keep Diomande for at least one more season unless a club meets their valuation.

Whatever happens with the transfer saga, Diomande's performance against Ecuador has done nothing to lower his price. Ivory Coast next face Germany on June 20 in Group E, a fixture that will offer Diomande another stage to make his case to potential suitors.
