The 23-year-old Dutchman landed at Manises airport on Sunday to finalise a move that had taken an unusually long route to Mestalla.
"I'm very happy. Finally everything has been closed. I'm very proud and happy to be here," Van Oevelen said on arrival.
He confirmed he had already spoken with Corberán before joining up with the squad: "He's given me a lot of confidence and he's also happy that I'm here."
Van Oevelen was one of Valencia's priority targets last summer while still on the books at Volendam, with the club reportedly reaching a verbal agreement with the player at the time. Ipswich Town moved faster, however, completing a permanent transfer worth around €4 million, a club-record fee for the Dutch side.
Only weeks after his move to English football, Ipswich, who already have several senior goalkeepers on their books, decided to send the youngster out on loan to continue his progression, prompting Valencia to revive their earlier interest and finalise a deal. The loan runs for one season and does not include an option to buy, a condition Ipswich insisted upon as they continue to view Van Oevelen as an asset for the future.
Asked about Valencia's earlier interest before his move to Ipswich, Van Oevelen avoided drawing comparisons between the two clubs.
"Valencia is a very big club. Just like Ipswich, which is also a really important club. It was a difficult decision, but I'm happy to be here."
Standing 1.99 metres tall, Van Oevelen arrives at Mestalla to compete with Stole Dimitrievski for the starting jersey, with his physical profile and potential having made him one of the most highly rated options considered by Valencia's sporting department. He was measured when discussing his ambitions for the season.
"I want to improve and help the team as much as I can. I think that's the main objective."
He also had words for the Valencia supporters he hopes to meet in the coming days: "Yes, I'm really excited to arrive at this great club. I'm looking forward to getting started and seeing the fans in the stadium."
