Barcelona head into Sunday's trip to Levante top of LaLiga after four matches, and Flick used his pre-match press conference to acknowledge that the club's ambitions this season extend well beyond the Champions League to a third consecutive league title.
"We are very happy to be playing at this level, but we know we have to prove it in every match," Flick said. "We know our quality, but we have to maintain the mentality, the focus, the intensity."
The German coach, who continues to rotate his squad heavily through the early rounds, said improvement remained the constant objective regardless of results.
"The goal is to improve, always. It's our job, as players and as a coach. We can do it. You have to be hungry," Flick said, before addressing his rotation policy directly.
"I think it's part of the game, you have to accept that someone else plays. In every position, I have two or three options. The players have to accept that others get a chance. We have to keep the good moment going."
Asked about Levante, who beat Real Betis 5-2 in their sole win of the season so far, Flick was wary of underestimating Sunday's opponents.
"It's a team that played very well against Betis and is very well structured. They know how to play in attack. It will be a match against a good team," he said.
Flick also praised the impact of teenage forward Hamza Abdelkarim, who has broken into the first-team picture this season after joining via the club's youth ranks.
"I think the club has done things very well with Hamza. He performed very well in pre-season and he competes for his place, and he's a profile we didn't have. It's a great project for the future and we have to maintain it," Flick said, while also singling out Raphinha's current level. "At the level he's at, Raphinha is one of the best in the world."
The coach expressed satisfaction with the balance of his squad compared with last season, praising the form of Pau Cubarsi in particular following his return from the World Cup.
"It's a balanced squad, watching the matches we're better than last season. In attack and defence. Everyone at the back is playing at a fantastic level. And Pedri, and Gavi. After the World Cup, Cubarsi is phenomenal. I'm happy. He's focused. He knows how to use his body well. He's improved physically, and that's important," Flick said.
On his own standing at the club, Flick was quick to deflect credit toward his squad.
"I'm just the coach. It's the players who play. For now everything is going well, I'm happy. I'm not the most important piece of the club, the players are," he said, before addressing the club's pursuit of a third straight title.
"Everyone wants to win the Champions League, it's our dream, but it's also important to win three leagues in a row. It would be incredible, although we still have a long way to go."
