The Brazilian was the outstanding performer in Barcelona's 3-0 victory, scoring twice to register his second consecutive brace and find the net for a third successive match.
His latest contribution took his Champions League tally for the Catalan club to 23 goals, matching Lewandowski's total and moving him into third place on Barcelona's all-time list in the competition.
Only Lionel Messi, with 120 goals in 149 appearances, and Luis SuĂĄrez, who scored 25 times in 55 matches, remain ahead of the pair.
Raphinha has also drawn level with Ronaldinho on 94 goals in all competitions for Barcelona, underlining his growing place in the club's recent history.
His performances are set to be rewarded away from the pitch too. The forward has agreed a new contract running until 2030, with sporting director Deco having announced the agreement at the club's September assembly.
The formal signing is scheduled for Thursday, with president Joan Laporta expected to join the Brazilian for the occasion.
Raphinha's two goals against Aston Villa also reflected his growing influence in a more central attacking role. He has been used as a forward by Hansi Flick and has demonstrated an impressive ability to arrive in the penalty area, while continuing to contribute to the team's pressing and movement.
The numbers behind his current form are striking. Raphinha has scored 19 goals in 13 official appearances this season, having put the physical problems that disrupted his previous campaign behind him.
His contribution has been recognised by his team-mates. FermĂn LĂłpez, who provided the assist for Raphinha's first goal against Villa, praised the Brazilian and Lamine Yamal for their importance to the side.
"For us, they are incredible. They help us so much. They make the difference and are very important to us, and with them we will surely achieve great things," FermĂn said.
Flick has also been quick to acknowledge the forward's form.
"He is in a great moment. He is an incredible player," the Barcelona coach said.
Raphinha's goalscoring figures, combined with his work rate and growing responsibility in attack, have made him one of the defining players of Flick's Barcelona side.
With his renewal now agreed and his scoring record continuing to improve, the Brazilian has plenty of reasons to enjoy the moment.
