Tottenham Hotspur manager Roberto De Zerbi wants Juventus centre-back Gleison Bremer as a replacement for Cristian Romero, and is prepared to offer goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario as part of a deal to bring down the transfer cost.

According to Tuttosport, the relationship between the two clubs has grown warm enough to support a complex double operation, with multiple players potentially changing hands over the course of the summer.

Bremer has a release clause of โ‚ฌ58 million in his Juventus contract, valid between July 1 and August 10. The Bianconeri's position is that they expect the full amount โ€” or something close to it โ€” to be paid for the Brazilian international, who made 31 competitive appearances last season, scoring four goals and providing three assists.

Romero's expected departure from Tottenham has opened the gap in defence that makes Bremer attractive. The club captain infuriated supporters during the run-in when he chose to attend a domestic match in Argentina while his teammates played what proved to be a survival fixture against Everton. His future at the club is widely regarded as settled โ€” he will leave.

Vicario, valued at around โ‚ฌ20 million, has been identified by Juventus as a potential solution to their own goalkeeping situation following a disappointing season from Michele Di Gregorio. The Italy international has indicated a desire to return to Serie A, according to Italian reports.

Including Vicario in any offer would allow Tottenham to reduce the net cash outlay for Bremer. Whether Juventus find the goalkeeper's value sufficient to reduce their asking price on the centre-back is the central negotiating question.

Spurs have already added Andrew Robertson from Liverpool and are nearing a deal for Bournemouth's Marcos Senesi. Bremer would represent a statement defensive acquisition as De Zerbi attempts to construct the squad he wants from scratch.

The clause expires in August. Time is not unlimited.
