Former Tottenham midfielder Gus Poyet says Roberto de Zerbi is the best managerial appointment the board could've made at the time.
Poyet insists the Italian's style of play and man-management suits Spurs' traditions and current playing squad.
Asked if his time with Sassuolo, Brighton and Olympique Marseille was good preparation for the Tottenham post, Poyet was confident De Zerbi's past experience would stand him in good stead.
However, added the qualifier that with Tottenham in the middle of a relegation battle, that nothing was guaranteed given the players' rock bottom confidence.
