The Italian club have emerged as one of European football’s most ambitious projects under Fàbregas, whose attacking philosophy has helped establish Como as an increasingly attractive destination. With the club looking to compete for honours, strengthening the squad is becoming an important part of their plans.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Camello has become a leading target as Como consider adding another striker during the winter transfer window.
The 25-year-old has made an outstanding start to the campaign, scoring seven goals in his first seven league appearances for Rayo. That return has put him alongside some of LaLiga’s most prominent attacking players and increased interest in his future.
Camello’s contractual situation is also likely to influence Como’s approach. His deal with Rayo is due to expire in June 2027, meaning the Madrid club could face a decision over whether to sell him in January rather than risk losing him for nothing at the end of the season.
The Italian side are reportedly prepared to explore an offer of around €10 million to secure his services midway through the campaign. Such a proposal would give Rayo an opportunity to collect a transfer fee while providing Como with an immediate addition to their forward line.
Fàbregas has regularly looked towards Spanish football when identifying players for his squad, drawing on his familiarity with the league and his connections in the country. Camello would fit that recruitment approach, having demonstrated his ability to deliver goals in Spain’s top division.
Como’s interest also reflects the club’s desire to build depth across the squad. A demanding schedule and ambitions to challenge at the top end of the table make attacking reinforcements particularly valuable, especially if they can contribute immediately.
There is, however, a distinction between reported interest and a completed deal. A January transfer would depend on negotiations with Rayo and the player’s willingness to make the move, while other clubs could also enter the race.
For now, Camello’s form has placed him firmly on Como’s radar. If the Italian club decide to act in January, the striker’s contract situation could make the coming months decisive for his future.
