The 31-year-old has become one of the most important players in Lecce’s recent history and is now entering his fifth year with the club after originally arriving from Sampdoria in 2022.
Falcone joined on loan with an option to buy and a counter-option before Lecce eventually completed a permanent deal in 2023. He signed a five-year contract at that stage and has now agreed a further extension.
The new agreement keeps him at Lecce until June 30, 2029.
Falcone has also established himself as one of the club’s leading appearance-makers. He has made 162 appearances across Serie A and the Coppa Italia, putting him ahead of former Lecce goalkeepers such as Walter Lorieri and Nardin.
His consistency has been particularly notable in Serie A. Falcone has not missed a league match for Lecce since the 2022-23 season and is the second player with the most Serie A appearances in the club’s history.
The goalkeeper has therefore become a central figure for a club where his importance extends beyond his performances between the posts.
His renewal also provides Lecce with continuity in one of the most important positions in the squad. Falcone’s record of availability has made him a dependable presence since establishing himself as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper.
The new contract represents another step in a relationship that has developed significantly since his arrival from Sampdoria. What began as a loan move has developed into a long-term commitment, with Falcone now secured at the club through the end of the 2028-29 campaign.
For Lecce, retaining their captain and one of their most experienced players removes another potential source of uncertainty from the squad.
Falcone’s standing has also been reflected in his appearance record. Having already surpassed several notable former Lecce goalkeepers, he is now second only to the club’s leading Serie A appearance-maker.
His latest renewal ensures he will have further opportunities to climb those rankings while continuing his long association with the club.
