During his time at Villa Park, Mosquera spent time on loan at Real Unión in Spain before completing his move to Portugal.
Aston Villa also confirmed goalkeeper Oliwier Zych has joined Vitória Guimarães on a season-long loan, giving him the chance to continue his development away from the club. Zych spent last season on loan at Rakow Częstochowa, where he featured in the UEFA Europa Conference League, and was an FA Youth Cup winner with Villa in 2021. He has appeared on the bench for the first team on several occasions and had previously spent time on loan at Puszcza Niepołomice in his native Poland.
Elsewhere in the academy, Villa announced that 18-year-old goalkeeper Jack Allan has signed his first professional contract with the club. Allan has spent the past two seasons at Villa as a scholar after arriving from Portsmouth in his Under-16 year, and was part of the Under-18 side that won a historic treble last season, claiming the FA Youth Cup, the Under-18 Premier League South title and the Under-18 Premier League National Final.
Academy manager Mark Harrison welcomed Allan's new deal.
"We are happy to see Jack sign his first professional contract. Jack is a goalkeeper who will now transition from our Under-18s and join our Under-21 training group. This contract will provide Jack with more time to develop and continue his journey to hopefully fulfil his potential," Harrison said.
Together, the three pieces of business reflect a busy period of squad management below first-team level at Villa Park, as the club balances permanent exits, development loans and fresh contracts for its most promising academy graduates. Mosquera's move represents a clean break for a player who never quite established himself in England, while Zych's loan gives him another season of senior experience following his Polish and Conference League exposure last year.
Allan's contract, meanwhile, rewards a goalkeeper who played a central role in one of the most successful Under-18 campaigns in the club's recent history, giving him a clear pathway into Villa's Under-21 set-up as he continues his development towards potential first-team involvement in the years ahead.
