Venezia FC have agreed a 40-year concession to operate their planned new stadium at Bosco dello Sport, committing €125 million to the project and its long-term upkeep.

The club and Venice City Council signed the agreement on Monday for the ground, which will be built in Tessera, within the Mestre area. The stadium is scheduled to open during the second half of the 2027-28 season and will have a football capacity of 18,500.

The €125 million commitment covers equipment and finishing improvements, routine and extraordinary maintenance, as well as the concession fee. The agreement gives Venezia responsibility for running the venue over four decades, making it a long-term investment beyond the team’s immediate sporting ambitions.

The ground is also intended to serve the wider area outside matchdays. Alongside football, it is expected to host concerts, festivals and other cultural and entertainment events throughout the year, forming part of the broader Bosco dello Sport development.

Venezia FC president Francesca Bodie described the signing as a historic day for the club and its community. She said the stadium would become the team’s new home and highlighted the ambition for an inclusive, sustainable venue built to high international standards.

Bodie also thanked the municipality for its cooperation, saying the project would allow the club to express the energy and identity of its supporters while creating a facility with a role in local life throughout the year.

Venice mayor Simone Venturini also welcomed the agreement, crediting municipal staff and the work of former mayor Luigi Brugnaro in bringing the project to this stage. He described the stadium as an opportunity for the whole city, not only those who follow Venezia.

The agreement, announced by Venezia FC and the municipality, marks a major step in plans to establish a permanent home in the Tessera development. With the opening date still some time away, the focus now turns to completing the facility and preparing for its operation.

For Venezia, the deal sets out both the scale of the financial commitment and the wider purpose of the project: a new home for the team that can also host events and attract visitors beyond the football calendar.
