Adje has been part of Dortmund’s youth setup since joining at under-14 level and has continued to develop into a promising option on the left side. His progress earned him opportunities to train and play with the senior squad during pre-season, including an appearance in a friendly against Rot-Weiß Oberhausen.
Thomas Broich, Dortmund’s sporting director at the club’s youth academy, praised Adje’s development and the qualities he brings to the team.
“Miguel has developed continuously over the last few years. He is brave in one-on-one situations and a real asset on the left side,” Broich said in the club’s announcement.
The extension keeps Adje within a development pathway he has followed for several seasons. After taking part in senior-team preparations during the summer, the left-sided player returned to the under-19 squad, where he continues to gain competitive experience.
Adje is also a Switzerland youth international. His combination of experience at Dortmund and involvement with the national youth setup has helped him build a profile as one of the club’s developing prospects.
Dortmund have not disclosed the precise length of the new agreement. The announcement instead confirms that the club has secured his services on a long-term basis, signalling its intention to continue supporting his progress through the academy.
The teenager is also eligible for Champions League selection through Dortmund’s B-list squad arrangements, although that status does not guarantee involvement in the senior team’s matchday squad.
For Adje, the next step will be to maintain his development with the under-19s and turn his pre-season exposure to the first team into further opportunities. Dortmund’s decision to extend his deal gives the club continuity with a player who has progressed through its youth ranks since his early teens.
The contract announcement was made by Borussia Dortmund, with Broich highlighting both Adje’s improvement and his ability to make an impact in one-on-one situations on the left flank.
