Vasco da Gama have reportedly approached Lucas Perri’s representatives to explore a possible move for the Leeds United goalkeeper ahead of the 2027 season.

The Brazilian is currently spending the campaign on loan at Torino, but his performances in Italy have attracted criticism despite his regular involvement in the team. A return to his homeland could now provide another option for the 28-year-old, with Vasco assessing potential goalkeeping reinforcements.

According to Vasco-focused insider Corujão Vascaíno, the Rio de Janeiro club have already contacted Perri’s entourage to establish the conditions of a possible transfer.

There has been no formal offer to Leeds and no indication that negotiations have begun. Vasco are understood to be considering several candidates as they plan for next season, with Perri among the names being examined.

The goalkeeper has previous experience in Brazilian football, having played for Botafogo before moving to Lyon in January 2024. His reputation in his homeland remains significant, although his subsequent European career has been less straightforward.

Perri joined Leeds from Lyon in 2025 with expectations of becoming the club’s first-choice goalkeeper. He made 16 Premier League appearances during his time at Elland Road, but eventually lost his place and was allowed to leave on loan.

Torino secured his services for the current campaign, with the agreement including an option to make the transfer permanent. That clause has been reported to stand at €16 million, giving the Italian club the opportunity to retain him beyond the end of the season.

However, Perri’s performances have not entirely convinced in Italy, and there are questions over whether Torino will commit to that level of investment. His continued presence in the starting team has not prevented mistakes from attracting scrutiny.

For Leeds United, the interest from Brazil could offer an alternative if Torino decide against exercising their purchase option. The club would potentially have another route towards a permanent departure for a goalkeeper who no longer appears to be part of their immediate plans.

The timing could complicate matters. The Brazilian season begins early in 2027, while Perri’s loan agreement with Torino runs until the end of the European campaign. Any move before then would require the existing arrangement to be addressed.

Vasco’s reported approach is therefore an initial enquiry rather than evidence of an imminent transfer. Much will depend on the terms Leeds would accept, Torino’s intentions and whether the Brazilian club are prepared to turn their interest into a formal proposal.
