Brighton have reportedly made an initial approach for Club León midfielder Daniel Arcila, with the Colombian attracting attention after an impressive year in Mexico.

The 24-year-old attacking midfielder has emerged as a potential target for the Premier League club, while Brazilian side Botafogo are also understood to be monitoring his situation. Neither club has made a formal offer, with the initial approaches aimed at establishing the conditions of a possible transfer.

According to Colombian journalist Juan Camilo Ruiz, Brighton have made contact over Arcila, whose contract with León runs until June 2028. The report was subsequently picked up in Brazil, where Botafogo were also identified as interested.

Arcila’s recent performances have helped put him on the radar of clubs outside Mexico. The figures cited in the initial report show 11 goals and two assists across 34 appearances in the 2025/26 and 2026/27 campaigns, with the midfielder playing just over 2,000 minutes.

He scored seven times in 20 appearances during the 2025/26 campaign, adding one assist. In the current campaign, he has registered four goals and one assist in 14 matches.

That return represents 13 direct goal contributions and a goal approximately every 190 minutes, an encouraging record for an attacking midfielder.

There has also been progress on the international stage. Arcila has earned his first call-up to Colombia’s senior national team, providing another indication of how his performances have raised his profile.

The midfielder began his career at Envigado in Colombia before moving to León in 2025. He has since developed into an important attacking option in Mexico, and his output has attracted attention from clubs considering reinforcements for future transfer windows.

Brighton have built a reputation for identifying talent outside Europe's major leagues, particularly in South America, and Arcila would fit the profile of a player whose performances have begun to attract wider attention.

However, the reported interest remains at an early stage. León are under no immediate pressure to sell, given the length of Arcila’s contract, while neither Brighton nor Botafogo have indicated that they are ready to make an offer.

For now, the Colombian’s form has placed him firmly on the radar of two clubs, with any potential move dependent on whether that initial interest develops into a concrete proposal.
