Vasco da Gama have made contact with Richarlison's representatives over a potential return to Brazil, though the Tottenham forward's path back to his home country is blocked by a technical obstacle.
The Rio de Janeiro club, where the 29-year-old has publicly declared his support since childhood, have opened exploratory talks to gauge whether a deal is feasible, according to Globo. Richarlison has told the club he is open to joining them, but Tottenham have already reached their limit of six international loans for the season and cannot sanction another temporary departure.
That leaves a permanent transfer as the only viable route before the Brazilian window closes on Friday evening, yet whether Vasco possess the financial resources to meet Tottenham's valuation and the player's significant wages remains doubtful. The striker, who joined Spurs from Everton for £50 million plus add-ons in 2022, earns a reported £90,000 per week.
Richarlison's situation at Tottenham has deteriorated rapidly. He was left out of Roberto De Zerbi's Premier League squad for the first half of the season after informing the club during pre-season that he wanted to leave.
De Zerbi confirmed the decision was not his own, stating that the Brazilian "said at the start of pre-season that he wanted to leave the club."
The forward has not played for the Brazil national team since October 2025 and is understood to be concerned about his prospects of making Carlo Ancelotti's squad for the 2030 World Cup cycle if he remains without competitive football. His last appearance for Tottenham came in a 3-0 defeat to Brentford on the opening day of the season.
Several other avenues have already closed. A return to Everton fell through over personal terms, while Turkish side Trabzonspor had an offer worth up to £17 million rejected. The Saudi Pro League window has also shut, removing another potential destination.
Vasco supporters have launched a social media campaign to push for the deal, and the club's need is acute. They sit 17th in the Brasileirão with one of the division's weakest attacks, despite reaching the Copa do Brasil semi-finals and the Copa Sudamericana quarter-finals.
Richarlison would offer proven quality, having scored 11 Premier League goals last season to help Spurs avoid relegation.
