Ramazani's future is back at the centre of Valencia's transfer plans after Leeds United left the Belgian winger out of the squad travelling to the United States for their pre-season tour, a decision that strengthens Valencia's hopes of bringing him back to Mestalla.
Leeds confirmed their 30-man squad on Tuesday for friendlies against Wrexham, Sunderland and Liverpool on American soil, with Ramazani absent, having already been excluded from Daniel Farke's initial plans for the 2026-27 campaign. Max Wober, Joe Gelhardt and Jack Harrison were also left out as players the club has opened the door for to leave.
Leeds United have been open to a permanent sale for several weeks, having concluded that Ramazani does not fit their project as they prepare for a return to the Premier League.
Valencia, for their part, are well aware of the player's willingness to return after a season in which he earned a regular place under Carlos Corberan and proved an important factor in the club's survival, contributing key goals and performances before fading from the starting line-up in the closing weeks of the campaign.
Ramazani made 31 appearances for Valencia last season, scoring six goals and providing two assists, with his numbers improving notably during the decisive final stretch. His pace, ability to break lines and one-on-one threat made him one of the team's most productive attacking options, in addition to his reliability from the penalty spot.
Valencia's interest is not new. Club CEO Ron Gourlay held talks in June to establish the terms of a possible deal and the price Leeds would demand, using a trip to England to sound out the English club's position directly. The main obstacle remains financial, with Leeds looking to recoup a significant part of the roughly £12million they invested in the player in 2024, while Valencia are pushing for a more affordable structure, potentially including a loan with a non-obligatory purchase option.
Valencia's business in wide areas extends beyond Ramazani. According to BBC Sport's Sami Mokbel, the Mestalla club are also monitoring Arsenal winger Reiss Nelson, who is entering the final year of his contract and could be allowed to leave this summer rather than risk losing him for nothing in 2027.
Nelson has reportedly turned down Premier League interest and is said to be open to a move abroad, though Benfica are understood to be Valencia's main competitors, helped by the presence of Marco Silva, who previously managed the winger at Fulham.
