Salah, 34, completed a shock move to Trabzonspor this summer, signing a two-year contract to join the side that finished third in the Süper Lig last season under coach Fatih Tekke, with reported wages varying by outlet from around £280,000 to £360,000 a week.
The Egyptian, who left Liverpool as a free agent after nine years, 257 goals and two Premier League titles at Anfield, had also received an offer from Trabzonspor's Süper Lig rivals Besiktas before opting for Trabzon, where he was greeted by thousands of supporters on his arrival.
Now the club's spending spree looks set to continue, with The i Paper reporting that Trabzonspor are keen to reunite the forward with his former Liverpool teammate Darwin Núñez.
The Uruguayan currently earns around £400,000 a week at Al-Hilal but was frozen out of the Saudi club's league squad midway through last season after Karim Benzema's arrival in February. Since then, Núñez has only been eligible to play in the AFC Champions League Elite, finishing the campaign with a modest nine goals in 24 games across all competitions.
Reports in Turkey suggest Trabzonspor are increasing the pressure in their pursuit of the centre-forward, with Al-Hilal, who paid around £46m for Núñez last year, said to be willing to let him leave for as little as £17m. Tottenham have also been monitoring the 27-year-old's situation but are yet to make a formal offer.
Núñez struggled to find consistent form during his time at Liverpool, scoring 40 goals in 143 appearances after arriving from Benfica in 2022 in what was then a club-record £85m move.
A reunion with Salah in Turkey would represent a fresh opportunity for the striker to rebuild his career and reputation after a difficult year in Saudi Arabia, while further underlining Trabzonspor's growing ambition as they look to build a squad capable of competing on multiple fronts following their record-breaking capture of Salah, who will not feature in the Champions League this season after the club's third-place league finish left them starting the campaign in the Europa League play-offs instead.
