Timothy Chandler has left the door open to extending his Eintracht Frankfurt career beyond the current season, with the veteran defender set to discuss his future with the club in the coming months.

The 36-year-old is one of Eintracht's longest-serving players, having first joined the club in 2001 before spending four years at Nuremberg and returning to Frankfurt in 2014.

Chandler's current contract runs until the end of the 2026/27 season, but he has indicated that he could continue playing beyond that point.

"We'll see what happens. I never say never," Chandler said on Sport1's Doppelpass.

The right-back explained that he expects to sit down with the club's sporting staff in January or February to discuss whether another season would make sense.

Chandler's role has increasingly shifted away from regular first-team football, but his experience remains highly valued within the squad. He has made only limited appearances in recent seasons, although injuries and a shortage of options at right-back have given him opportunities.

His importance to Frankfurt extends beyond what he contributes on the pitch. Having spent much of his career with the club, Chandler is regarded as an influential figure within the dressing room and a link to one of the most successful periods in Eintracht's recent history.

The defender has won the DFB-Pokal and Europa League during his time in Frankfurt and has made almost 200 competitive appearances for the club.

A decision on his playing future is therefore likely to depend on discussions later in the season rather than being made immediately. Chandler's latest comments suggest retirement is not yet a settled decision.

For now, the veteran is keeping both possibilities open. Whether he remains at Eintracht for another season or eventually brings his playing career to an end will be decided after talks with the club.
