His agent, Gilad Katzav, was quick to offer a corrective.
"Manor wrote that he finished the year at Fiorentina," Katzav told 5OnAir. "At this moment we don't know anything about his future and nobody has said he won't continue at Fiorentina."
Whether Fiorentina activate the purchase option — or whether they negotiate alternative terms with Tottenham — is the unresolved question. Solomon made enough appearances to demonstrate his value but the €10 million clause represents a commitment the club may weigh carefully as they plan for next season.
The full text of Solomon's Instagram message read: "Hi. When I arrived here a few months ago, we had a clear objective and we achieved it. We all know that this great club deserves to fight for completely different objectives, and I'm certain that from next season, Fiorentina will return to where it deserves to be.
"Thank you for your support and for making me feel at home in Florence from day one. I enjoyed every single moment of the season here. Forza Viola, see you soon."
The phrase "see you soon" has since been cited by those who believe he intends to return.
