The Argentine made the declaration after Leipzig secured a 2-0 victory away to Schalke on Saturday, their third consecutive win in all competitions.
Demichelis has faced scrutiny following a mixed run of results, with questions raised about his position and speculation linking former RB Leipzig manager Julian Nagelsmann with a possible return.
The victory in Gelsenkirchen eased some of the immediate pressure, but Demichelis made clear that his own assessment of the campaign will depend on whether the club meet their targets.
“I know I have to achieve objectives with RB Leipzig. That is why I am here. And if we don't achieve those objectives by the end of the season, then I will leave myself. That's how it is. The people who know me know that very well,” he said, according to Bild.
The 45-year-old was also keen to stress that Saturday's result should not be mistaken for the completion of any of those objectives.
“It was only our first away win. The season is still long,” he added.
The victory was an important response from Leipzig after their recent inconsistency. It also marked a third successive competitive win, giving Demichelis some breathing space as he looks to build momentum.
However, his comments underline the pressure to deliver a successful campaign. Leipzig have ambitions of returning to the Champions League, and the coach knows that results will ultimately determine whether he remains in charge.
Demichelis has not publicly identified a specific league position as the condition for his departure, but he has accepted that failure to meet the club's expectations would leave him prepared to walk away.
His statement also comes amid speculation about potential alternatives, with Nagelsmann's name repeatedly mentioned in discussions around the Leipzig job. For now, though, Demichelis remains focused on the task in front of him.
The win over Schalke provides a platform, but the coach has made it clear that the decisive judgement will come at the end of the season.
