Head coach Luciano Spalletti praised his side's balance throughout the performance.
Asked whether he was more pleased with the result, the attitude or the individual performances, Spalletti said all three mattered equally.
"Being convincing in several areas can help us rediscover the determination and the direction we need to head in. We have to raise our level: we didn't just get the ball off our feet, we tried to play. That becomes fundamental for us," he said.
Spalletti praised a more disciplined defensive display than in Juventus's previous outing, built around a back three used regularly last season.
"The other night we ran around the pitch too much, so today we needed to be more balanced, more compact. The other night we were unintelligent in some moments, while tonight we used our intelligence," he said.
"The team was more complete in its approach, not just at an individual level — everyone realised what was needed and did well to see whether team-mates were following the press. There were a lot of decisions taken collectively. That's what makes you complete."
On debutant Amine Sarr's performance, Spalletti was encouraged despite some rawness.
"Sarr is a thoroughbred, because he has real pace as a quality. He had a good game tonight despite it being his first. He also responded well a couple of times, so that's positive," he said, while confirming Andrea Cambiaso had been withdrawn as a precaution.
"This morning he came in with some doubts because he'd felt a slight pain, and if a player isn't convinced you can't force it and put his physical health at risk."
NEC coach Dick Schreuder was left to rue errors that gifted Juventus their goals.
"I'm sorry for how we gave away the goals, but we have to stand by the lads and help them. If you look at the first goal we conceded, it's a move Juve play often, so you have to know that. You have to stay switched on," he said.
"We played more compactly in the second half, but if the opponent sits back a little it's normal to attack. Even on the penalty we conceded, there was space to track the man earlier. We didn't press. We lost 5-0, you might think we're not strong enough, but I believed we could do better."
Schreuder took some encouragement from his side's approach despite the scoreline.
"We didn't concede because we defend high — today we conceded a goal I could have headed away myself... We're not at Juventus's level, but there's time," he said, adding that his side, missing several first-team regulars including Nuytinck and Schuurs, would need patience as it adapted to a heavier European fixture list.
