Real Betis have agreed a new contract with sporting director Manu Fajardo that extends his stay at the club until 30 June 2030.

The renewal underlines the Seville club's confidence in the working model Fajardo has led since joining as technical secretary in the summer of 2023, before being promoted to sporting director in February 2024.

Since taking charge of football operations, Fajardo has overseen squad planning while combining a push for maximum competitiveness with a medium and long-term strategic vision aimed at building a sustainable growth model. Under his leadership, Betis reached the Conference League final in 2025 and have recently secured qualification for next season's Champions League.

Speaking after signing his new deal, Fajardo said he was proud to continue leading the club's sporting project.

"I'm very happy, excited and aware of the responsibility. I'm also very grateful to the president, vice-president, CEO, board of directors, and of course to my entire team, to all the players who have been part of Real Betis over the last three years and to all the club's staff, because working as a team we have been able to achieve very important milestones for the club.

"It's shaping up to be a really exciting year, we're going to enjoy the Champions League together again, as a family, with our fans, but I'm also aware that we need to keep working and giving 200% every day so that Real Betis always lives up to what our supporters deserve."

Under Fajardo's direction, the sporting department has developed a methodology built on thorough market analysis, anticipation, negotiating strength and identifying profiles that fit both the club's sporting needs and its financial reality.

Club president Angel Haro praised Fajardo's professionalism and commitment to the club after the deal was sealed.

"He is a tireless worker and a Betico through and through. We're delighted because not only is he a good professional, but he also feels the colours. We're thrilled to have Manu with us, at least until 2030, but there will surely be many more years."

The extension comes after a period of significant progress for Betis under Fajardo's stewardship, with the club now preparing for a first Champions League campaign in more than two decades, their first appearance in Europe's top club competition since the 2005/06 season.

The new deal ties Fajardo to the club for at least four more years, giving Betis long-term continuity in their football department as they look to build on recent progress both domestically and in Europe.
