Tsitaishvili spent last season on loan at Ligue 1 side Metz, contributing three goals and two assists in 33 appearances. He is not unfamiliar with Spanish football, having spent the 2024-25 campaign on loan at Granada, where he made 36 Segunda División appearances and scored seven goals with four assists — one of the more productive spells of a career built almost entirely on loan moves away from Kyiv.
Born in Rishon LeZion, Israel, where his father was playing professional football at the time, Tsitaishvili came through Dynamo Kyiv's academy and made his senior debut for the Ukrainian club in 2018.
He has since represented Georgia at senior level after previously playing for Ukraine's youth sides, with whom he won the 2019 Under-20 World Cup, scoring in the final — a piece of pedigree that sets him apart from many of the loan-listed wingers typically available on a free transfer.
Rayo Vallecano have moved quickly to reshape their squad this week. The Tsitaishvili deal follows the confirmed departures of full-back Nobel Mendy to newly promoted Premier League side Hull City and winger Pep Chavarría to Chelsea, while the club also added Albanian centre-back Marash Kumbulla on loan from Roma last week, with Kumbulla already working under head coach Beñat San José ahead of the season opener against Sevilla.
