The 17-year-old completed a deadline-day move from Bodø/Glimt worth around €3m, becoming PSV's eighth and final signing of the summer after fending off interest from a host of major European clubs, including Manchester City, Chelsea, Juventus, Newcastle United and Ajax as well as Barcelona.
Speaking to Sport, the Danish forward explained that PSV's development record with young players had proven decisive in his decision.
"For me it was an easy choice when PSV explained their interest in me. It's a big club and they had a perfect plan for my future ready," Bro Hansen said.
"Look, for example, at what they've done with players like Xavi Simons, Noni Madueke, Ismael Saibari and so on.
"I'm going to fight to get as many minutes as possible within the first-team squad. I can't wait to start."
Bro Hansen signed a three-year contract having joined Bodø/Glimt on a free transfer from Danish side AGF only in January 2025, quickly making an impression with a hat-trick on his Norwegian Cup debut before going on to score eight goals and add three assists in 15 first-team appearances. He has been similarly prolific at international level, netting 13 goals in 16 caps for Denmark's Under-17s.
PSV technical director Earnest Stewart said the club had tracked the striker closely before finalising the deal.
"We have been following him for a while and the contact has become more intensive in recent months," Stewart said. "We see Mikkel as a player with enormous potential, and have every confidence that he can develop optimally at PSV."
He is expected to spend time with the club's reserve side, Jong PSV, before pushing for involvement in Peter Bosz's first-team plans, joining a growing list of Danish talents to have made the move to Eindhoven's academy pathway in recent years.
Standing at 1.88m, Bro Hansen offers a physical profile that PSV believe can translate quickly to senior football, with his combination of size and finishing ability drawing comparisons to previous forwards who have come through the club's system.
The deal brings PSV's summer spending to a close following the earlier arrivals of Filip Kostić, Lutsharel Geertruida, Kodai Sano, Sven Mijnans, Sami Ouaissa and Ayoni Santos, rounding out a transfer window aimed at both strengthening the first team and continuing to invest in young talent for the future.
