Lazio released an official farewell video on Friday featuring a message from the 38-year-old Spaniard, who joined the club in 2021 from city rivals AS Roma — the first transfer between the two clubs in 40 years.
"Today is a very sad day for me, because I say goodbye to this journey and the splendid Lazio family," Pedro said in the video.
"It was a real honour to wear this shirt and the club logo on my chest. It's true that I did not bring trophies to what I consider a marvellous home, but I always defended the jersey with courage, humility, ambition and passion. I will carry you forever in my heart."
Pedro, who turns 39 in July, made 208 appearances for the club, scoring 38 goals and providing 19 assists. Lazio reached the Coppa Italia final this season under Maurizio Sarri, where they fell 2-0 to Inter Milan at the Stadio Olimpico.
His future beyond this weekend remains open. He has not confirmed retirement, and his contract simply expires at the end of June.
Pedro arrived at Lazio via a career spanning Barcelona, Chelsea and Roma. At Barcelona under Pep Guardiola he won three Champions Leagues, five La Liga titles and the Copa del Rey. At Chelsea he won the Premier League under Antonio Conte and the Europa League under Sarri. With Spain he won the 2010 World Cup and Euro 2012.
Guardiola described Pedro during that golden Barcelona era as the player who made everything around him function — an undervalued presence in the most decorated team in world football at the time.
At Lazio, Sarri gave him that same trusted role once more. He delivered on it until the final week of his final season.
