Nico Gonzalez has committed his future to Juventus until June 2030, with Luciano Spalletti’s faith in the Argentina international helping secure a fresh deal after a summer in which he was linked with a move away.

Juventus confirmed the extension on Friday, rewarding the forward after an encouraging start to the 2026/27 campaign. Gonzalez had returned to Turin following a loan spell at Atletico Madrid, but Spalletti made clear that he wanted the 28-year-old to remain part of his plans.

The new agreement extends his previous contract, which was due to expire in 2027, by three seasons.

“Juventus and Nico Gonzalez continue together,” the club announced. “The agreement confirms the desire to continue the journey that began in the summer of 2024, when the player born in 1998 arrived in Turin.”

Gonzalez has made 45 appearances for Juventus, scoring seven goals. He has already found the net twice in five appearances this season, offering Spalletti flexibility and unpredictability in the attacking positions.

The club highlighted his tactical versatility, experience and personality, describing him as a valuable presence within the squad both on and off the pitch.

His renewal represents a significant change in direction after a summer when Atletico Madrid were reportedly interested in retaining him. Spalletti’s determination to keep the Argentine has helped establish him as part of Juventus’ plans for the present and future.

Gonzalez also expressed his satisfaction at extending his stay in Turin, explaining that he had settled comfortably into both the club and the city.

“I am very happy to continue being part of this great family,” he said in a message shared on social media.

“Since I arrived, I have felt very comfortable both at the club and in the city, and I am very excited about everything we have ahead of us.”

He added that Juventus’ history and ambition made the opportunity to continue with the club particularly meaningful.

“Juventus is an institution with a great history and great objectives to achieve. It is a source of pride to continue being part of this project, and I am very enthusiastic about continuing to work to achieve great things together.”

Gonzalez initially joined Juventus from Fiorentina in 2024. His first campaign brought five goals in 38 appearances across all competitions, before his loan move to Spain gave him a different challenge.

Now back in Turin, his early-season contribution has strengthened his position under Spalletti. The contract extension gives both player and club a longer-term commitment as Juventus look to compete across a demanding schedule.

For Gonzalez, the new deal offers stability after a period of uncertainty. For Juventus, it secures an experienced international whose direct running and ability to operate in different attacking roles provide valuable options.
