Man Utd outcast Rashford blanks Bayern Munich to wait on Barcelona decision

Marcus Rashford has made his position clear to every club pursuing him this summer: Barcelona or nothing.

The Manchester United forward spent the 2025-26 season on loan at Barcelona, where he registered 14 goals and 14 assists across 44 appearances under head coach Hansi Flick. His performances earned him genuine affection from supporters at the Spotify Camp Nou, and the 28-year-old has no desire to take that shirt off.

According to MARCA, Rashford is not fielding calls from other clubs, including Bayern Munich — the most serious alternative suitor to have emerged.

The German champions, having missed out on both Anthony Gordon and Liverpool's Rio Ngumoha this summer, have turned their attention to the England international. Multiple reports from Germany and England claim Bayern are willing to meet the €30 million buy option that Barcelona hold over Rashford from his loan agreement.

That option must be triggered by June 15.

Barcelona, however, are understood to be reluctant to pay the full figure, with reports suggesting the club would prefer a second loan or a reduced permanent fee closer to £13 million. United, for their part, are holding firm at €30 million and will look elsewhere if the Catalans do not comply.

For Rashford, the details of that negotiation are a matter for the clubs. He has made clear to all parties that he will exhaust every available route to remain in Catalonia — whether that means a second loan, a permanent transfer at a lower fee, or accepting adjustments to his reported £300,000-a-week wage.

MARCA report that while some outlets in Germany have claimed Bayern have already made contact with Rashford's representatives, that suggestion is wide of the mark. Even if such an approach had been made, the response would have been unambiguous.

Bayern's interest in Rashford comes with its own complications. His salary remains a significant obstacle, with reports indicating the Bavarian club lacks the appetite to match his current earnings.

Rashford is currently preparing for the World Cup with England and his immediate focus is on the tournament. He is waiting for one call in particular — and it will not come from Munich.
