Manchester United starlet JJ Gabriel could break David Gaskell's record as the club youngest ever player next season, with the 15-year-old set to turn 16 in October after missing out on eligibility entirely last term.

Manchester United wonderkid Gabriel now knows exactly when he could break a series of Premier League and club records, after the release of the 2026-27 fixture list confirmed the exact date he becomes eligible.

The 15-year-old is considered one of the most exciting prospects to emerge from United's academy in years and has already trained with the first team on multiple occasions, fuelling calls from supporters for an early senior debut.

Premier League rules prevented Gabriel from playing in the competition last season, with regulations stating that eligible players must have turned 15 on or before 31 August of any given campaign. Gabriel only turned 15 in October 2025, ruling him out for the entirety of the 2025-26 season.

A narrow window now exists for him to make a landmark debut next season instead. Gabriel will be approaching his 16th birthday on 6 October when the new Premier League season gets under way.

That leaves roughly eight weeks in which he could feasibly make his United debut and break David Gaskell's long-standing record as the club's youngest ever first-team player. Gaskell was 16 years and 19 days old when he played in the 1956 FA Charity Shield.

Whether United's coaching staff choose to fast-track Gabriel into senior contention within that window remains to be seen, but the fixture list has at least clarified the timeline that supporters and the club alike will now be watching closely as the new season approaches.

Gabriel's repeated involvement in first-team training sessions, despite his ineligibility to play competitively, suggests the club's coaching staff already rate him highly enough to integrate him into senior environments well ahead of schedule.

Whether that translates into an actual senior appearance within the narrow window available will depend on United's form, squad availability and the coaching staff's appetite for handing such a significant milestone to a player still several months shy of his 16th birthday.
