Gakpo managed just seven league goals last term as questions grew over his long-term role at Anfield, with the emergence of Bradley Barcola as a target only adding to the uncertainty facing the Dutchman. Since joining from PSV Eindhoven in January 2023, he has scored 50 goals in 180 appearances across all competitions and represented the Netherlands at this year's World Cup, where his form picked up considerably.
New manager Andoni Iraola has previously indicated Liverpool are not actively pushing for a Gakpo exit, and are instead looking to add to their wide options rather than reduce them, with the club's pursuit of Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain running separately to any decision on Gakpo's future.
Newcastle have also been credited with interest in the winger, giving Liverpool a second potential suitor should Tottenham's business with Manchester City over Savinho progress first.

Spurs have already been among the summer's biggest spenders as they rebuild their squad, and a move for either player would represent a further step up in ambition for their forward line.
Liverpool's stance suggests they see Gakpo as a squad asset rather than a player they are desperate to offload, with any deal for Tottenham likely to hinge on whether they are willing to meet a valuation toward the top end of that £70m-£72m range before the window shuts.
Spurs have already committed close to £230m to summer recruitment, including deals for Sandro Tonali, Matheus Fernandes, Jan Paul van Hecke, Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi and Martin Dubravka, underlining the scale of their rebuild under Roberto De Zerbi.
