Bayern Munich are considering bringing forward their plans to sign an attacking player, with Liverpool teenager Rio Ngumoha reportedly among their targets.

The Bundesliga champions had intended to strengthen their forward options next summer, but a series of injuries has raised the possibility of a move in January.

According to Bild, Bayern are monitoring Ngumoha alongside Manchester United prospect JJ Gabriel as they assess potential additions to their attack. The report suggests the club could decide to act sooner than planned rather than wait until the end of the season.

Bayern Munich had looked at signing a left winger during the previous summer window, with Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola among their main targets. They ultimately did not complete a deal and are now considering alternative options.

The need for attacking reinforcements has become more pressing following injuries to Jamal Musiala, Luis DĂaz, Serge Gnabry and summer arrival Ismael Saibari. Bayern have been left with fewer available options in forward areas, increasing the pressure on their recruitment plans.

Ngumoha has developed into an important part of Liverpool’s first-team picture since arriving from Chelsea’s academy in September 2024. He made his senior debut under Arne Slot in January 2025 and has continued to progress since signing his first professional contract later that year.

The 18-year-old’s current Liverpool deal runs until 2028, although the club are expected to want to secure his future on improved terms as interest from elsewhere grows.

Bild’s report suggests Bayern are weighing up whether to make an early move for the winger, rather than wait until the summer.

Liverpool, however, have little reason to encourage a sale. Ngumoha is regarded as a significant part of the club’s future, and any approach from Bayern would face a difficult negotiation.

The German club’s interest is not yet a confirmed bid, but the possibility of an approach in January could give Liverpool another contract issue to address as they look to retain one of their most promising young attackers.
