Liverpool consider move for Pierre Kalulu and Roma’s Wesley

Liverpool are looking at Juventus defender Pierre Kalulu and Roma’s Wesley as possible targets to strengthen their right flank ahead of next summer’s transfer window.

The Reds are reported to be seeking another option at right-back after concerns over the position, with Kalulu emerging as one of the leading names on their shortlist.

The French defender’s versatility, athleticism and technical ability are understood to appeal to Liverpool. Kalulu has become an important figure for Juventus, operating regularly on the right side of the defence under Luciano Spalletti.

His form has also prompted Juventus to consider improving his contract. Kalulu is currently tied to the Turin club until 2029, but the Italian side are keen to secure his longer-term future and protect themselves against interest from elsewhere.

Liverpool’s reported interest could complicate those plans. A move would depend on Juventus being willing to negotiate and on the financial terms available, particularly if the club succeeds in persuading Kalulu to commit to a new deal.

Wesley is another name under consideration, reports TMW. The Brazilian has established himself as an important player for AS Roma and has attracted attention through his work on the right flank.

His profile offers Liverpool an alternative to Kalulu, with the potential to provide attacking thrust as well as defensive cover. The club are reported to have monitored Wesley during recent Roma matches.

The two players would represent different options for Liverpool, although both are being linked with the search for greater depth and quality on the right side of the defence.

Kalulu’s situation may be shaped by Juventus’ determination to renew his contract, while Roma’s position on Wesley would be a key factor in any approach. Neither player is reported to be close to a transfer, and the available information points to scouting and shortlist activity rather than formal negotiations.

Liverpool’s interest is therefore at an early stage, with the summer window still some way off. Whether either defender becomes a concrete target will depend on the club’s recruitment priorities and the opportunities that develop over the coming months.
