Lautaro Martínez said Inter Milan's domestic double carries "enormous significance" and gave head coach Cristian Chivu a perfect mark of ten after the Nerazzurri beat Lazio 2-0 in the Coppa Italia final at the Stadio Olimpico.

Martínez, who scored Inter Milan's second goal after Adam Marusic's own goal for Lazio had put them ahead, spoke to Sport Mediaset immediately after the final whistle.

"In ten days we have done the double. An enormous significance — it was not simple to start again after last year. A truly important season for the game we played and the results we achieved. I am proud that we are finishing this year with another trophy."

He addressed the burden of expectation that follows Inter wherever they go.

"There is always so much talk about Inter. We have to continue on our road and keep bringing home titles. Today we are happy — two titles means a great deal."

On Chivu, who took over from Simone Inzaghi at the start of the season and has now delivered the Scudetto and the Coppa Italia in his first year.

"Ten out of ten. This year he has been a tremendous help to us."

Inter's title triumph in Serie A came with three rounds to spare. The Coppa Italia win is the club's tenth in the competition and the first time they have won the domestic double since José Mourinho led them to the treble in 2010. It is also the first Italian double by any club since Juventus in the 2017-18 season.

Chivu played in that 2010 squad. Winning as a manager at the same club, completing the same double, places him in select company inside Inter's history.
