Lucumí is due in Turin between Sunday and Monday to undergo a medical, with Juventus paying Bologna around €20m for the 28-year-old centre-back on a four-year contract worth roughly €2.5m per season plus bonuses, running to 2030.
The Colombia international turned down higher wages elsewhere to force through his preferred move, rejecting interest from Nottingham Forest — who had offered around €1m more per year — as well as approaches from Como and Sunderland. Head coach Luciano Spalletti had identified Lucumí as his top target to partner Gleison Bremer, and personal terms were agreed weeks ago, leaving only the fee to be settled between the two clubs.
Lucumí arrives with an extensive résumé, having made 152 appearances and scored twice for Bologna since joining from Genk in 2022, adding 137 games and three goals during his time in Belgium and a further 53 for Deportivo Cali earlier in his career.
He has also won 42 caps for Colombia, scoring once, and was part of the Bologna side that won the Coppa Italia under Vincenzo Italiano last season, adding to a collection that includes the Belgian league title, Belgian Super Cup and Belgian Cup.
Juventus are separately working through a goalkeeping reshuffle that could see Michele Di Gregorio depart before the window closes. A string of unconvincing performances, including further errors in a pre-season friendly against Inter Milan, have left the club open to offers for the 29-year-old, whom they value at around €15m, with Marseille and Valencia among the clubs to have made contact. Spalletti has publicly defended Di Gregorio, saying after the Inter game that he "made some excellent saves on difficult shots from distance," but the club's stance on a sale has not softened.
Any exit hinges on Juventus first resolving their own search for a long-term successor. Parma's Zion Suzuki, the Japan international regarded as Spalletti's preferred option, is closing in on a move to Paris Saint-Germain worth around €35m including bonuses, and Juventus are hopeful PSG would then loan the goalkeeper back to Turin for the season — a scenario that still depends on Suzuki's own willingness to accept a temporary return to Italy immediately after signing for the European champions.
Juventus have also made enquiries about Real Madrid's Andriy Lunin and Benfica's Anatoliy Trubin as alternative options should the Suzuki route stall, while Tottenham's Guglielmo Vicario remains on the club's radar too.
For Marseille, any deal for Di Gregorio would also depend on Juventus's own business, since the club has no intention of allowing him to leave before a replacement is secured. The French club are also weighing up other goalkeeping options after the departure of Gerónimo Rulli to Manchester City, underlining how closely the two situations in Turin and Marseille are now linked.
