Guerra marked the end of Valencia's pre-season with a goal and an assist in a 2-0 win over Hércules, and was asked afterwards whether he could yet leave before the window closes.
"For now I'm here, and while I'm here that means I'm staying," he said. "Anything can happen in the market, but I have a contract" — an answer strikingly similar to the one given by Ferran Torres in the United States shortly before his own move to Paris Saint-Germain was confirmed.
Guerra's release clause rose from €40m to €60m on August 1 under the terms of the contract extension he signed last year, which runs until 2029.
Barcelona have held an interest in the 23-year-old for some time, with sporting director Deco meeting the player's representatives in June, though no offer has been submitted since the clause increased. Clubs in Italy and England are also reported to be following his situation.
On the match itself, Guerra struck a positive tone: "Any win is always positive. There are things we need to improve, but it's important to finish pre-season with a win."
He acknowledged supporters' concerns after an underwhelming pre-season campaign.
"It's understandable. We have to be realistic — recent years haven't gone the way people hoped, so that part is understandable. But we also need to give the team confidence, the season hasn't started yet and it's important to begin it with everyone's support.
"Pre-season is for trying different things, seeing what works best for the team, and right now we're trying a back five, which could be beneficial."
Asked about his own role, Guerra said he preferred licence to roam.
"I feel good, I like playing with the freedom to drop deep, get into the opposition box, a bit of everything — because if it comes with goals and assists, then even better."
He also addressed the squad's depth ahead of the new season: "We're short in some positions, although there's a good team here. If we players didn't trust the coach, we wouldn't get anywhere. Everyone's pulling in the same direction, because otherwise things won't turn out the way we'd like."
