The 18-year-old joins on a permanent three-year deal from Druga Liga side ND Ilirija 1911, following Benjamin Šeško and Jaka Bijol into the top flight, and will initially link up with Conor Sellars and David Meyler's Under-21 squad at the MKM Stadium.
His brother, Lovro Golič, is also embarking on a fresh challenge this summer, having joined Belgian side Mechelen from Roma before being loaned to Helmond Sport in the Dutch second tier.
Golič began his career at NK Celje's youth academy before switching to NK Domžale in July 2023, making his first-team debut as a substitute in a 3-1 win over NK Aluminij in May 2024. He moved to Maribor's academy in January 2025, initially joining the Under-17s, where he kept six clean sheets in 15 NextGen Liga appearances for the Under-19 side and served as an unused first-team substitute on 10 occasions.
Maribor's majority owner, Acun Ilıcalı, is also Hull City's chairman, a connection that appears to have smoothed Golič's path to England after a spell at Ilirija, where he kept six clean sheets in 18 appearances following his February 2026 move there.
The goalkeeper impressed during a trial with Hull over the summer, first training with the academy on their pre-season tour of Slovenia before joining up with the first team at their training camp in Maribor. Internationally, Golič has three caps at Under-19 level for Slovenia and represented his country at the 2025 Under-21 European Championship, adding to 19 caps across the Under-15, Under-16 and Under-17 age groups, in which he kept six clean sheets.
"I am really happy to be here. To be at a Premier League club is a big step for me in my career," Golič said. "There is good history, good fans and a good stadium, so I cannot wait.
"The trial was a good experience. It took me some time to get used to the intensity, but after one or two training sessions, it was OK. I am more of a sweeper keeper. I can do the job on the line as well, so I am more of a mixed goalkeeper.
"This year, my ambition is to get as much experience as I can in the Under-21s and in the first team. It is every kid's dream to be at a Premier League club, so again, I am really happy to be here."
