Sweden international Elliot Stroud is expected in England this week to finalise a move to newly promoted Premier League side Hull City.

The 24-year-old is set to join Hull in a deal worth around £3m from Swedish side Mjallby, on a four-year contract. Stroud had appeared to be heading for Genoa, having reportedly signed a pre-contract agreement with the Serie A club, before Hull moved in late to hijack the deal. Genoa are said to be considering legal action against Stroud's representatives as a result.

Stroud helped Mjallby win a first-ever Allsvenskan title in 2025 before adding the Svenska Cupen this May, and has scored seven goals in his last 15 league appearances. He made four appearances for Sweden at this summer's World Cup, including their last-32 exit to France.

Hull City are also hopeful of completing the signing of Olympiacos goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis, though competition for the 23-year-old is fierce.

The Greece international, who has one year left on his contract in Piraeus, has also been linked with Leeds United, Arsenal, Brighton, Aston Villa and Coventry City among others, with reported valuations of his fee ranging between €20m and €30m. Hull have already signed goalkeeper Jack Butland from Rangers this summer as they prepare for their first top-flight campaign since 2017.

Stroud, whose father is English, will not require a work permit for the move and is seen at Hull as a genuine left-sided option who can add pace and width to Sergej Jakirovic's squad. Standing at 1.85m, he offers a physical profile as well as end product, having drawn comparisons in the Swedish press to a young James Milner for his relentless running.

Hull's business this summer reflects the scale of their ambition after promotion, though the club were also forced to sell Ivor Pandur and Aidon Shehu before the end of June to remain compliant with financial regulations.

Manager Jakirovic is expected to have a busy remainder of the window as Hull look to strengthen across several positions before their opening fixtures.
